Physicians
William D. Horton, M.D., FACS
“I find caring for patients with cancer rewarding. I also enjoy seeing children.”
Having always wanted to be a physician, Dr. William Horton chose to become an ear, nose and throat specialist because of the variety of procedures and disease processes that otolaryngologists treat. After earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, Dr. Horton went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. Following medical school, he then completed an internship and an otolaryngology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston.
Dr. Horton has been practicing in Knoxville for 19 years. As an ear, nose and throat specialist, he treats patients of all ages with a wide variety of conditions. He particularly enjoys caring for patients with cancer and treating children who cannot see other ENT physicians. Within the field of otolaryngology, Dr. Horton’s special interests are sinus disease and allergies. He also enjoys learning about the immune aspects of allergic disease.
Active in a number of professional roles, Dr. Horton was involved in forming the University Physicians Association at the University of Tennessee. He currently serves as president of the University of Tennessee Ambulatory Surgery Center Physicians, LLC. Additionally, he has served on advisory committees for numerous pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Horton is the father of two college-age sons and a teenage daughter. His wife serves as the administrator at Parkwest Surgery Center. In his leisure time, Dr. Horton most enjoys golf, gardening and travel. He also likes to find time for snow-skiing, photography, and collecting wine.
